Africa's Natural Resource Analyst & Consultants

ANRAC provides resource analytics and consultancy services to private and public investment firms, organizations or individuals who require access to key information on their areas of interest.

Whether it is for profit or non-profit, environmental or social agendas, we make sure we do the groundwork necessary by providing expert, objective analysis of economic and investment alternatives. We help our clients secure the best return on investment by reviewing data simulations that allow for the optimization of production from the resources available e.g providing investors with specific land coordinates where ores lie.

In addition, we assess the degree of risk in a given project through statistical analysis, providing our customers with information necessary to make informed decisions while also looking into any regulatory criteria and licensing requirements including durations for performing/completing procedures.

We can also be involved in negotiating contracts for mineral exploration, natural habitat documentation, green technology trials and set-ups and infrastructural development by liasing with authorities that govern or have rights to land and resources in these areas. Remaining benevolent in any negotiations as a third party is crucial, as a result we offer third party consultations to affirm all parties involved maintain not only lucrative but mutual benefits and monitor if the terms of contracts are being upheld.

Furthermore, we believe that if citizens are to reap the benefits from natural resource revenues, transparency is needed throughout the entire resource stream, from how contracts are awarded and monitored, to how taxes and royalties are collected, to how investment choices are made and executed. We investigate these issues, analyse and publish relevant data.

Other services we offer include providing independent advice to clients in different sectors, undertaking research and enquiries on natural resource management issues, engaging with stakeholders to develop high quality reports with practical recommendations based upon thorough analysis.

Notes

We realise that natural resource investment in Africa is still marred by a number of challenges that include: lack of mineral exploration technology, criticised corporate governance, poor infrastructure, sensitivity on land ownership issues and resource driven conflicts. We have also identified solutions to some of these concerns. We are aware that to invest in natural resource exploration and improve the standards of living of Africans some steps need to be considered some of these include:
  •  Strategic planning on how revenues from resources will be used and an openness to the public about actual accounts of revenues used,
  •  Expert consultations to value and quantify mineral wealth and resources,
  •  Promoting public/private partnerships between indigenous and international investors,
  •  Developing sound policies that regulate and facilitate exploration,
  • Processing resources for value addition to generate more income and provide employment
  •  Developing regional/continental institutions to manage resources in a standardized manner,
  •  Identifying qualified and competent negotiators to get good contracts as well as ensure local investors are not cheated,
  •  Improving education systems to target scientific knowledge with a view of producing human resource relevant to natural resource exploration,
  •  For purposes of balanced growth, resource exploration royalties should benefit inhabitants of explored areas while tax revenues ensure
service delivery to the   rest of the country in which the resources are being accessed,
  •  Explorers should set up funds for continuous rehabilitation and environmental protection,
  • Indepth research and sensitization of the populace on the benefits of resource exploration to African nations.
  •  some countries need support in such areas as auctioning of licenses and contract negotiations with major investors, and in management of volatile commodity-related revenues so as to address macroeconomic risks, and mitigate price shocks.

Summary and Agenda

We continuously thrive to broaden our range of research areas and establish relationships with academics and institutions that may provide specialist content on any areas that our clients want to access. As we expand our resource base, our research database will subsequently cover other areas of natural resource studies. We are currently working on new technology to make our databases available online. We also recommend other independent specialist organizations or individuals through our referral networks in topics we have not covered to date.
